How to Check the Brake Fluid

The brake fluid is one of the components responsible for helping your car stop when you apply the brakes. When you apply your foot on the brakes of your car, what happens is that the brake fluid runs from the master cylinder down to the brake lines and to both the front and rear brakes. It is important that there is sufficient fluid reaching your brakes, otherwise air will get into the brake lines and the result is that the brakes will not perform properly. Therefore you should always pay close attention to the amount of brake fluid present in the brake reservoir.
When you do check the brake fluid, you should always clean the top of the reservoir. The reason is because the fluid takes in the moisture and can ruin the fluid.
When your brake fluid gets dark in colour it should then be replaced.
